This is Kyle Peterson, a circus performer who was given a summons by cops for riding his unicycle on the sidewalk in Brooklyn. Unfortunately for the cops, the law says that only bicycles are prohibited from being on the sidewalk, so of course Peterson is suing the NYPD, for $3 million dollars. He’s even going through with the suit despite the charges being dropped. Among Peterson’s claims are that the cops made fun of him for being on a unicycle and sang “circus music” at him.
Of course this whole thing has me thinking. I wonder, do you think the cops are proud of themselves for not only knowing some “circus music,” but being able to recall it while in the line of duty? I can’t figure out if this is a skill they’d brag about or something they’d never want their fellow officers to know. And if it is something good, are these cops ever sent out on special missions? Like say, when the circus comes to town, and one of the bearded ladies takes a giraffe hostage or something. Do these cops get called in because of their mastery of circus music? I need to do some research.
